We Want Your Photos!
Airmid Institute is actively seeking photographs of species not yet represented in our Biannual List. If you would like to contribute, we welcome submissions from our community! Please review the following requirements before submitting.
Submission Requirements
All photographs must be original work by the submitter, OR, if the photograph was taken by another party, written copyright permission must be obtained by the submitter prior to submission. Airmid Institute is not responsible for securing third-party permissions.
With each submission, please include:
- The full Latin binomial (Genus and species) of the species photographed
- The location where the photograph was taken (country and region at minimum)
- Your full name as it should appear in the attribution credit
Ideal Photo Specifications
- File format: JPEG or PNG (JPEG preferred for photographs)
- Dimensions: minimum 1200 pixels on the longest side; 2000 to 3000 pixels recommended for flexibility and quality on higher-resolution screens
- Resolution: 72 ppi is standard for web display; pixel dimensions are what matter most for screen viewing, though 300 dpi is recommended if the image may also be used in print materials
- File size: under 500 KB preferred for web use; larger files acceptable if high resolution is required for potential print use
- Color mode: RGB
- Additonal Details: No heavy filters, watermarks, or overlaid text; natural color representation is preferred for scientific accuracy
